This morning I went to the chino hills electronics swapmeet. I was suprised at the size of it. There were about 60 vendors filling about 4 rows of the parking lot. There were probably 100 buyers in attendance. Some electronics but mainly computer junk. I wanted to pick up some 7 segment drivers, 7447 or the equivalent and some 5.5 mm power connectors. They may have been there, but there were only a few vendors that would have had them. I wasn’t
willing to spend enough time searching through the bins of stuff. I did pick up two pairs of gearhead motors. One pair I am pretty sure is 12 volts with a plastic gear head. The other was lower torque but a smaller form factor and I don’t know the voltage. Four motors for $10 was a reasonable deal.
Still I probably won’t go again. It is really difficult to be away from Katie and I can get exactly what I want from ebay.
I had bought the domain from Yahoo domains $1.99. I also had paid for a year of hosting with whipanorbit.com all last night. I spent about two hours working on setting up this website.
I ported somethings over from the mtbaldytemp.0moola.com site. They were a great free provider, but I was having trouble with my auto ftp jobs crashing. I don’t know if this was on their end or mine. I decided to bite the bullet and pay for a site.

I started putting together the mtbaldy site. This needs a lot more work including pictures of the
cabin.
I also ported over the temperature monitor site, but didn’t update the software.
I moved over the TFM5360 site. These are some great little IR receivers I picked up from electronics goldmine at 5/$1. There are great for line following robots or interfacing remote controls.
Wow has web design gotten easier since the last time I did this in the late 90s. I am using a freeware program called NVu which is really easy to use. I used to be such a purist and do everything in wordpad or emacs becuase I was worried about creating html that had the absolute minimum footprint. Now with high bandwidth so ubiquitous it seems there is little point.
The web provider offers cpanel and fantastico which makes it super easy to install blogs (Wordpress) forums, guestbooks etc. Looking at the list, I don’t know what half of these things do! To think that I taught workshops on the internet in 1997!
This evening we visited some friends for dinner and played scattegories. This is a great game, but I question the need to actually own the game to play it. The best thing about it was the giant dodecahedron with 20 letters of the alphabet printed on it.
